Boys Varsity Wrestling, Coed Varsity Wrestling · Wrestlers win three individual titles at NP Invitational


The New Palestine wrestling team won three individual championships at Saturday’s New Palestine Invitational wrestling meet, powering the Dragons to a second-place finish in the eight-team event.

At 113, Peyton Covington (6-3) won his title match by fall in 1:46. At 120, Christian White improved to 22-1. He won his semifinal match in 52 seconds and his championship match in 2:50.

Richard Clevenger won the Dragons’ third title at 195. He won a 9-1 major decision over Mt. Vernon’s Charlie Moore in the semifinal match, then won by fall in 2:30 in the title match. Clevenger is now 20-5.

The Dragons also had a number of runners-up. Jack Rossell (14-10) finished second at 106.Max Jones was runner-up at 145. Max is now 14-6.  At 220, Will Olive (15-6) finished second, falling in a 1-0 decision in the final match. At 285, Tucker Keevers (16-9) also placed second.

Porter Keevers (126), Nick Bradley (138), Zack Hoyt (152) and Devan Hill (170) placed fourth.

Joe Poetz (132), Nolan Cox (160) and Nick Bastian (182) finished fifth.

The Dragons are next in action Wednesday when they host Center Grove.
