Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls basketball drops hard-fought game to No. 4 Fishers


The New Palestine girls basketball team led at several points, but eventually dropped a hard-fought 56-50 decision at Class 4A No. 4 Fishers.

The Dragons led 13-10 after a quarter, trailed 30-28 at half, but then re-took the lead 40-38 going into the final period, but Fishers went on a run early in the fourth quarter to seize the lead and held it in the closing minutes.

Isabella Gizzi led a balanced Dragon attack with 12 points. She scored five in the first quarter to help stake the Dragons to an early lead. Michaela Jones hit three 3-pointers and tallied 11 points, scoring eight in the second half. Jordan Reid added 10 points. Addi Jones scored eight, including six in the second half. Grace Marshall tallied five and Faith Hensel four.

The Dragons are now 12-5 on the season, with two of the five losses to undefeated top-5 4A teams. They next play Tuesday at home against Triton Central.
