Multiple Teams · Swimmers, divers successful at invitationals


The New Palestine swimming and diving teams had a successful day at two different invitationals Saturday.

The Dragon boys swim team finished second in the East Central Relays, with a score of 74 points just six back of champion East Central. The Dragon girls finished fourth in the five-team invitational with 42 points.

Ben Miesse, Chase Siler, Damon Estes and Jack Schwartz won the 100 free relay and 400 free relay. The quartet also won the 200 free relay. Quincy Shirk, Eli Kleine and Ben Manning won the 150 back relay. Chase Martin, Connor Phipps, Jaxson England and Wyndell Birch won the 150 breast relay.

For the Dragon girls, Kayleigh Wright, Moriah Corey, Katelyn Trimpe and Bailey Young finished second in the 100 free relay. Arielle Poynter, Trimpe, Corey and Wright were second in the 200 free relay.

Meanwhile, the divers competed at the Pendleton Heights diving invitational. Colin Stacey again broke his school record, winning the title with a score of 494.6 – a spread of 105.45 points ahead of second place. Karen Shriver finished third.
