Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Cross country teams have strong showing at Marion

Running in one of the state’s biggest meets, the New Palestine girls cross country team finished 12th in the elite division at Saturday’s Marion Invitational.

The Dragons tallied 365 places in a division with several state championship contenders.

Brenna Shaw led the way for the Dragons with a 35th place finish (19:36.8). Emma Mann was 60th (20:14.2), Kaylin Casner 78th, Kendall Mann 119th and Caitlin Urrutia 150th.

The Dragon boys placed sixth of nine teams in the purple division, which is the event’s large-school division. NP tallied 145 places.

Devon Whitaker led the Dragons with an 11th-place finish (17:08.7). Carson Sams was 27th (17:59.7), Josh Ackerman finished 31st (18:09.80), Hayden Isaacs 39th (18:49.9) and Owen Kleine 46th (18:59.5).

The Dragons next compete at the Sept. 14 Whiteland Invitational.
