Girls Varsity Track · Girls track places in three events at State Finals

The New Palestine girls track team set three school records and placed in three events at Saturday’s IHSAA State Finals at Indiana University.

The Dragons capped the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 4×400 relay, with Jordan Reid, Victoria Crowder, Maigan Williams and Sophia Taylor running 3:56.30. That was one of three records set by the Dragons.

They also opened the meet with a record-setting performance. Brenna Shaw, Taylor, Grace Voelz and Kaylin Casner set a school record with a 9:26.90 time in the 4×800. They earned a ninth-place medal.

Reid placed ninth in the 400 with a school-record time of 56.075 seconds.

Shaw was 23rd in the 800 with a time of 2:23.44.

With five team points, the Dragons finished tied 43rd in the state out of 67 teams that scored points in the State Finals.
