Girls Varsity Tennis · Tennis wins close match against Southwestern

Playing their third match in two days, the New Palestine tennis team won a tough fight Tuesday against a solid Southwestern (Shelby) squad, with the Dragons winning 3-2.

The No. 2 doubles team of Sheridan Schrowe/Ashley Truman won 6-0, 6-1 to get the Dragons on the board. Playing her first varsity match, freshman Abby Blachly won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Claire Cherry/Josee King won 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 to clinch the match.

At No. 1 singles, Megan Long played the longest match of the evening, but fell in a third-set super-tiebreaker 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. At No. 2 singles, Eliza Adams played her first varsity match in a while, falling 7-5, 6-1.

There was no JV match.

The Dragons are now 6-2. They next play Thursday at home against Morristown.
