Girls Varsity Tennis · Tennis wins tight match against TC

The New Palestine tennis team won a tight 3-2 match Tuesday against Triton Central.

At No. 1 singles, Megan Long won a tight first set and then dominated, winning 7-6(5), 6-0. The Dragons also swept the doubles. Claire Cherry/Josee King won 6-3, 6-3. Sheridan Schrowe/Ashley Truman were dominant in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Nicole Wernimont dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles. Caylie Almond played her first varsity match at No. 3 and fell 6-4, 6-1.

The victory improved the Dragons’ record to 2-1. The Dragons are next in action Thursday at home against Park Tudor.

The Dragon JV won 5-0, with Eliza Adams (8-0), Briette Basaran (8-0) and Payton Mittman (8-7(3)) winning at singles; as well as Anneliese Masshardt/Megan Reed (8-7(4))and Leah Seib/Abby Blachly (8-2) at doubles. The Dragon playback team won 5-2.

The Dragons varsity is now 2-1. NP next plays Thursday at home against Park Tudor.
