Christian White became the 46th New Palestine wrestler to compete in the IHSAA State Finals next weekend, as he advanced out of Saturday’s semistate.
White, who is now 33-5 on the season, finished third in the 113 pound weight class at the New Castle semistate. He will wrestle Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the opening round of the State Finals.
In the opening round, he won a 5-2 decision over Carmel’s Brac Hooper. He followed with a 7-5 win over Lawrence North’s Anthony Hughes to punch his State Finals ticket. He dropped the semifinal match 19-6 to Cathedral’s Jake Seltzer, but then won a 7-1 decision over Hamilton Southeastern’s Jake Simone in the third-place match.
Pairings for the State Finals will be announced Sunday.
Noah Wright also competed for the Dragons at 145. He won his first match 12-2 over East Central’s Ben Wolf, but fell 15-0 to Cathedral’s Alex Mosconi in the second round. Wright finishes the season 28-7.
