Two New Palestine wrestlers – Christian White and Noah Wright – advanced from Saturday’s Perry Meridian regional to next week’s semistate at New Castle.

White finished as runner-up at 113 at the regional, while Wright finished third at 145 pounds.

White clinched his regional berth with a second-period pin over Desean Wise of Beech Grove in the opening round. He then decisioned Perry Meridian’s Andrew Haggerty 7-2 in the semifinal, before falling by fall to Warren Central’s David Pierson in a rematch of the sectional final. White moves to 30-4 on the year.

Wright won with a second-period fall of Southport’s Justin Tracy to clinch his semistate berth. He lost 10-5 to Perry Meridian’s Aiden Warren in the semifinal round, but won his third-place match over Scecina’s Drew Smith with a pin in 2:35. Wright is now 27-6 on the season.

Four other Dragons competed at the regional. Richard Clevenger dropped a 7-1 first-round decision to Southport’s Jaeden Battista at 170. Porter May lost by fall to Perry Meridian’s Austin Lane in the opening round at 195. Juan Camacho lost by fall to PM’s Jeff McClure in the opening round at 220, while Jacob Brittsan lost by fall to PM’s Sam Jones at 285.

Christian White was the second-place finisher at 113 pounds in the regional.
Noah Wright finished third in the regional at 145.
