Boys Varsity Swimming · Boys swimmers second in home meet


The New Palestine boys swim team went 1-1 in a triple-dual meet Monday with Roncalli and Greenwood.

The Dragons lost a close meet 91-84 to Roncalli, but beat Greenwood 100-76.

The Dragons won four events. Tyler Corey won the 50 free, Colin Stacey the diving competition by 50.7 points and Marlon Cabrera the 100 butterfly. The 400 free relay team of Corey, Jack Schwartz, Cabrera and Damon Estes also won.

Cabrera (200 IM) and Corey (100 free) also had second-place finishes. Cabrera, Chase Siler, Corey and Schwartz were second in the 200 medley relay.

Placing third were Kyle Ellis in the 200 IM, Schwartz in the 100 freestyle, Estes in the 500 freestyle and Siler in the 100 breaststroke.

The Dragons are back in action tonight at Lawrence Central in a three-way meet with Shelbyville.

Tyler Corey won two events and had two seconds in Monday’s meet.
Colin Stacey won the diving competition at Monday’s meet.
Marlon Cabrera won two events had had two seconds for the Dragons.
