New Palestine wrestlers Christian White and Noah Wright each won Hoosier Heritage Conference titles in Friday’s HHC meet at NPHS.
White (25-2) won the 113-pound title, while Wright (22-4) won at 145. They helped the Dragons to a sixth-place finish.
White drew a forfeit into the semifinal round, where he won 13-4 over Mt. Vernon’s Andrew Johnson. He beat Delta’s Blaine Lee 15-4 in the championship match, giving him two major decisions.
Wright won 2-0 in the quarterfinals to beat Shelbyville’s Elijah Sims. In the semis, he decisioned Greenfield-Central’s Kenny Thompson 7-2. He then beat Pendleton Heights’ Caleb Gibson 8-4 in the final.
NP placed three wrestlers in the finals. At 170, Richard Clevenger (16-12) was the runner-up. He beat G-C’s Wyatt Andrick by a 16-0 tech fall in the opening round, then beat PH’s Jacob Brown 9-2 before falling 9-3 to Mt. Vernon’s Drake Kendrex in the final.
At 220, Juan Camacho (16-3) placed third. He dropped his first match by fall, but won with two pins over G-C’s Chris Guzman and Yorktown’s Gus Wilson.
Ian Faubion finished fourth at 132. Placing fifth were John Dowden at 106, Darin Johnson at 160, Porter May at 195 and Jacob Brittsan at 285. Christian Spencer placed sixth at 138.
The Dragons next compete in the Jan. 26 sectional.
