The New Palestine girls basketball team used a fast start, building an early double-digit lead and never looking back Tuesday in a 69-39 victory at Beech Grove.
The Dragons scored the game’s first 10 points and built a 16-6 lead after a period. NP extended it to 38-17 at halftime and then used a 21-6 third quarter to go up 59-23 headed into the final frame.
The Dragons got big performances from throughout the lineup. Leah Seib tallied 19 points, including 10 in the opening quarter to pace the fast start. Claire Cherry added 12 points, including 6-of-6 from the line. Jordan Reid scored 11 points, with nine coming in the third quarter.
Katie Herron and Emily Newcomb scored eight points each, with Newcomb draining two 3-pointers in the second quarter. Tatum Biddle added six points. Haley Harrison scored three and Faith Hensel two.
The Dragons are now 18-2 on the season. They return home Tuesday to face Lawrence Central.
