The New Palestine girls basketball team’s 12-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday in a 57-49 loss at Triton Central.

Ranked 15th in the IBCA single-class poll, the Dragons are now 16-2 on the season. TC, ranked No. 3 in the ICGSA Class 2A poll, is now 17-1.

The Dragons got off to a hot start, taking a 21-13 lead after a quarter with a balanced attack. Leah Seib scored six points in the opening quarter, with Haley Harrison scoring five. Jordan Reid and Katie Herron had four each in the period.

But NP was outscored 13-4 in the second quarter, allowing the hosts to take a 26-25 halftime lead. TC pushed the edge to 10 in the third quarter before three 3-pointers from Harrison cut the deficit to 42-37.

Harrison led the Dragons with 17 points. Seib added 10. Reid and Herron scored seven each. Megan Jolly tallied five points, while Tatum Biddle scored three.

Maya Chandler led TC with 23 points.

 

The Dragon JV won 47-32.

The Dragons are next in action at 6 p.m. Friday at Pendleton Heights. NP can clinch the HHC title outright with a victory.
