The New Palestine boys basketball team dropped a 64-48 decision Friday at Class 3A No. 5 Delta.
The Dragons fell to 5-3 on the season (2-1 HHC), while the host Eagles improved to 10-0 (2-0 HHC).
NP led 16-15 after a quarter as Dawson Eastes hit two 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the opening period, while Matthew True scored six.
An 11-4 second period gave Delta a 26-20 halftime lead. Led by leading scorer Josh Bryan, the Eagles extended their edge to 42-30 in the third. Bryan scored 30 points, including nine each in the third and fourth quarters. He was 5-for-5 from the line in the final period to help put the game away.
Maximus Gizzi and True led three Dragons in double figures with 14 points each. Gizzi tallied all of his points in the second half, including 7-of-9 from the line. True hit three 3-pointers on the night. Eastes added 13 points. Dylan Romine scored four. Eric Roudebush had two points and Kyle King one.
The Dragons return home Saturday to face Southport, with the freshman and JV games beginning at 6 p.m. and the varsity game tipping off at 7:30 p.m. New Pal Radio will broadcast.
