The New Palestine wrestling team had a big weekend at the Connersville Spartan Classic, tallying 162.5 points to finish third at the 32-team event.
The Dragons had seven wrestlers place in the top eight of their respective 32-individual brackets, with Christian White finishing as a champion and Noah Wright a runner-up.
White won an 8-4 decision at 113 to claim the championship. He also had victories by forfeit, a fall and two tech falls to go 5-0 on the weekend.
At 145, Wright won a 6-2 decision and a fall to move to the quarterfinals. There, he won a 13-2 decision in the quarters and a fall in the semis. He eventually dropped a 10-4 decision to Shenandoah’s Dallas Pugsley in the final.
Brayden Clevenger finished fifht at 195. Jared Diep (132) and Juan Camacho (220) both placed sixth. Richard Clevenger was seventh at 170 and Chase Nelson placed eighth at 126.
The Dragons are back in action Thursday at home with a dual meet against Franklin Central. Wrestling begins at 6:30 p.m.
