The 16th-ranked New Palestine girls basketball team added to the trophy case Saturday, beating Greensburg and Noblesville to win the New Palestine tournament title.
The victories give the Dragons a 12-game winning streak and a 16-1 record for the season.
NP beat Noblesville 42-32 in the championship game, seizing control by outscoring the Millers 14-5 in the third quarter to take a 32-19 lead.
Leah Seib had a big day for the Dragons, tallying 10 of her 18 points in the opening half, then hitting two 3-pointers and scoring eight points in the third quarter. Katie Herron added five points. Haley Harrison, Megan Jolly and Jordan Reid added four points each. Michaela Jones scored three and Tatum Biddle two.
Earlier in the day, the Dragons rallied to beat Greensburg 53-48. NP trailed 37-33 going into the final quarter, but rallied to outscore the Pirates 20-11 to seize the victory. The Dragons trailed 13-5 after a quarter and 30-21 at the half.
Jolly helped spearhead the comeback with seven fourth-quarter points, including a three-point play. She and Seib each scored nine points, with Seib talling four in the final quarter. Biddle also scored four of her eight points in the fourth quarter, as did Harrison, who was 8-8 from the line in the game. Herron led the Dragons with 14 points, including 10 in the opening half. Reid added five points. Strong foul shooting helped NP rally, as the Dragons were 10-11 in the fourth quarter and 18-21 for the game.
The Dragons are next in action Jan. 8 at Triton Central.
