Playing their second game in less than 20 hours, the New Palestine girls basketball team downed Perry Meridian 40-31 Saturday afternoon.

The victory was the 16th-ranked Dragons’ 10th straight and improved their record to 14-1.

NP jumped out to an early 15-10 lead after a quarter and maintained it at 21-16 at halftime. PM tied the game at 26-26 late in the third, but Leah Seib’s 3-pointer gave the Dragons a three-point lead going into the closing quarter.

In the final period, NP held the hosts to five points while Michaela Jones hit a 3-pointer. Haley Harrison scored four points, while both Jordan Reid and Katie Herron hit shots to give the Dragons the victory.

Seib led the way with 18 points, including all eight of NP’s third-quarter points. Herron added five points, while Reid, Harrison and Megan Jolly scored four each. Jones hit a 3-pointer and Tatum Biddle scored two points.

The Dragons are next in action Friday, Dec. 28 at home in the New Palestine tournament.

Leah Seib scored 18 points to lead the Dragons against Perry Meridian.
