Multiple Teams · Swimmers sweep triple-dual


The New Palestine swim teams swept a triple-dual meet Thursday with New Castle and Eastern Hancock.

The Dragon boys beat New Castle 97-71 and Eastern Hancock 88-52. The Dragon girls beat New Castle 114-57 and Eastern Hancock 94-56.

Individual victories for the Dragon girls came from Maria Virt in the 50 freestyle, Alyssa Rieman in diving and Jessica Rogers in the 100 butterfly. The Dragons also swept the relays, with Tegan Davis, Claire Whisler, Bailey Young and Sarina Donahue winning the 200 medley relay. Rogers, Virt, Cassy Moorman and Young won the 200 and 400 free relays.

Finishing second were Young in the 200 IM, Maigan Williams in the 100 butterfly, Moorman in the 100 freestyle, Sydni Wilson in the 100 backstroke and Whisler in the 100 breaststroke.

For the Dragon boys, individual winners were Damon Estes in the 200 freestyle, Marlon Cabrera in the 50 freestyle, Austin Lines in diving and Tyler Corey in the 100 butterfly. Corey, Kyle Ellis, Jack Schwartz and Cabrera won the 200 medley relay. Corey, Schwartz, Estes and Cabrera won the 400 free relay.

Individual seconds went to Chase Siler in the 200 IM, Schwartz in the 100 butterfly, Ben Miesse in the 100 freestyle and Ellis in the 100 breaststroke.

The Dragons are next in action Saturday at the East Central Relays.
