The New Palestine volleyball team dropped a 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 decision to Pendleton Heights in Saturday’s sectional semifinal at Greenfield-Central.
The Dragons finish the season 22-9, their fourth straight 20-win season.
Kaelyn Armstrong led the Dragons with 12 kills and 10 digs. Lydia Jones added 12 kills and seven digs. Sydney Robertson had 30 assists to quarterback the offense. Rylie Sturgeon had seven digs. Audrey VanderWal added six digs. Jesi Hall had five kills and two aces.
It was the final match in a stellar career for VanderWal, Jones, Sturgeon, Robertson and Kristen Dodd, which saw two sectional championship and a regional championship in addition to four winning seasons.
“Today was not our day. We struggled in serve receive and it was a domino effect onto other parts of our game,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. Pendleton came out swinging and was the better team today. Putting today’s match aside we had an outstanding season. We are going to miss our seniors.”
