The New Palestine volleyball team won a convincing 25-17, 25-9, 25-12 victory over Shelbyville on Tuesday’s Senior Night.

Sydney Robertson had 30 assists, 11 digs and four aces. Lydia Jones added 14 kills and six digs. Rylie Sturgeon had 11 digs. Kaelyn Armstrong had nine digs, three kills and two aces.

“Great win on senior night. We were able to keep Shelbyville out of system most of the night,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. “I am proud of our team for bouncing back from Monday’s game. We really clicked tonight and played with confidence.”

The Dragon JV also won a two-game sweep.

Tuesday’s victory was the final home match for Jones, Sturgeon, Robertson, Audrey VanderWal and Kristen Dodd.

“Congratulations to our seniors on a fantastic four years,” Whitaker said. “They have made our program better by their dedication, hard work, leadership, and passion. It has been such a joy coaching these five young ladies.  I can’t wait to watch them succeed in their future endeavors.”

The Dragon varsity is now 22-7 on the year and 2-4 in the powerful HHC. NP concludes the regular season Thursday at Mt. Vernon.
