The New Palestine volleyball team pushed defending 3A state champion New Castle to four sets Thursday at the New Castle Fieldhouse.

The Dragons eventually fell 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13 to the powerful Trojans, who have won 17 straight matches.

Lydia Jones had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Sydney Robertson also had a double-double with 12 digs and 26 assists. Kaelyn Armstrong added a strong night with nine kills and 10 digs. Rylie Sturgeon had 14 digs to give the Dragons four defenders with double-digit digs.

Up front, Jesi Hall added six kills. Lauren Dodd had five kills. Isabel Martens had four blocks.

The Dragons are now 13-5 overall and 1-3 in HHC play. They return to action Saturday morning when they host the New Palestine Invitational. New Castle improves to 22-3.

The Dragon JV won 25-8, 25-14.
