The New Palestine girls soccer team got back into the win column Thursday with a 3-0 shutout of Warren Central.
The game was scoreless until halftime. After some adjustments, the Dragons broke through in the second half. Olivia Lambdin put away a penalty kick after a handball in the box.
Maddy Miller put away the second goal with a goal from the box. Victoria Crowder provided some insurance by dribbling around the Warrior defense and putting the ball into the far-post side netting to finish off the victory.
The Dragons were strong defensively. Haley Weinrich and Riley Moss shared the shutout. Freshman Sadie Miller made her first varsity start and played strong defense.
The Dragon JV also won 6-0. Abby Blachly and Sydney Cornwell scored two goals each. Olivia Murphy had a goal and an assist. Whitney Miller also scored for NP. Rhiana Brown had two assists and Laney Knoop had an assist.
The Dragons (9-4) return home Saturday morning to face Lawrence Central, with a 9 a.m. JV kickoff, followed by the varsity match.
