Boys Varsity Golf · Golf places fifth in close HHC tournament

The New Palestine golf team finished eight strokes shy of the Hoosier Heritage Conference champion and placed fifth in an extremely close meet Saturday at Hawk’s Tail.

Just eight strokes separated the top five teams, and 11 separated the top six. NP shot 338, just shy of champion New Castle (330). Mt. Vernon (332), Yorktown (334) and Pendleton Heights (337) rounded out the top four. NP was three strokes ahead of sixth-place Delta (341).

Elijah Domogala finished fourth in the conference with a seven over-par 79, four strokes back of champion Trevor Turner of New Castle. Quinn Dobbins finished in a seventh-place tie with an 81. Chris Guhl shot 86 and Matt Kelley 92. Josh Shinkle’s 93 was the fifth score.

The Dragons are next in action Thursday at Rushville.
