Girls Varsity Tennis · Tennis sweeps PH on Senior Day

The New Palestine girls tennis team wound up the regular season with a 5-0 victory Friday over the Pendleton Heights Arabians in a Hoosier Heritage Conference match at NP.

NP’s five seniors were recognized on Senior Day after the completion of the match against the visiting Arabians.

NP sophomore Megan Long made few mistakes on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against PH senior Bailey Davis at No. 1 singles.

Senior Ivey Simmons accounted for Arabians junior Gracie Criswell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles in her last regular season match for the Dragons.

NP junior Caylie Almond played a steady match to beat PH junior Lauren Marsh 6-0, 6-1.

The Dragons’ No. 1 doubles pairing, juniors Josee KIng and Claire Cherry, combined well to defeat PH seniors Suzie Kramer and Claire Goodwin 6-2, 6-4.

NP’s No. 2 doubles team, junior Sheridan Schrowe  and sophomore Ashley Truman, extended its impressive record to 15-4 for the season, beating Arabian seniors Tara Lynn Brown and Alexis Young 6-3, 6-2 to complete the 5-0 sweep for the Dragons.

The Dragons junior varsity team ended a successful season with a 7-2 win. Seniors Summer Petrow and Lilly Schwier both won.

The NP varsity team ended the regular season with a 9-6 record and 4-3 in the HHC.

The Dragons varsity team will participate in the sectional at Mt. Vernon beginning Wednesday. The draw will be Monday night.
