The New Palestine softball team continued to flex its offensive muscle while also getting a stellar pitching performance Friday in a 20-0 victory over host Connersville.
The Dragons used the longball to post back-to-back eight-run innings in the third and fourth. NP also scored one in the first and three in the fifth.
Ashley Prange homered twice and drove in four runs. Michaela Jones and Jaylin Calvert each hit three-run homers in the contest. Calvert also had a double and a team-high five RBI.
Emma Tucher was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. TeTe Hart was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Emily O’Connor and Tatum Biddle both doubled. Kendal Calvert and Macy Miller also had hits.
NP outhit Connersville 17-2. The duo of Miller and Kaylea Bullock combined on a two-hit shutout. Bullock started and fanned three over three innings. Miller struck out three in the final two innings.
The 3A No. 1 Dragons are now 18-1 on the season. They next play Saturday, hosting two 4A powers in Crown Point and Carmel, beginning at 10 a.m.
