Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Track splits with Rushville


The New Palestine girls track team won nine events Thursday en route to a 78-53 victory over Rushville, improving the Dragons’ record to 4-0 this season.

The Dragon boys dropped a 92-40 decision in the dual meet at Kelso Stadium.

NP’s boys won four events. Jared Reed took the 110 hurdles, Caleb Stirm the 3200, Gavin Hausz the high jump and Austin Keele the shot put.

Addie Halter and Haley Rickey each won two individual events. Halter swept the sprints, the 100 and 200, and was also part of the winning 4×100 relay team. Rickey won the two distance races, the 1600 and 3200. Aden Lumbley won the shot put and Hailee Holberton the pole vault.

The Dragons swept the relays. Brenna Shaw, Hannah Taggart, Maigan Williams and Victoria Crowder won the 4×800 relay. Williams, Halter, Olivia McKilligin and Holberton won the 4×100. Sophia Taylor, McKilligin, Taggart and Crowder won the 4×400.

The Dragons compete at the Midwest Prep Invitational Saturday at Lawrence Central. The next dual meet for the Dragons is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Perry Meridian at Kelso Stadium.

Haley Rickey won two individual events Thursday.
