The state champion New Palestine High School softball team was honored Monday by the Indiana state legislature.

The Dragons visited the Indiana state capitol building, where they were honored with a proclamation by Sen. Mike Crider.

The Dragons went 31-2 in 2017 and won the fourth state championship in school history, beating Kankakee Valley 13-6 in the title game. NP set numerous state records en route to the title, including most runs (383) and home runs (57). Ashley Prange set a state record for homers in a season, with 21.

Coach Ed Marcum’s team returns all but four players from that squad as it looks to repeat in 2018.
