Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Gymnasts sweep 4-way meet

The New Palestine gymnastics team swept a four-way meet Wednesday at New Palestine, tallying a season-high 101.725 points.

The Dragons broke 100 points for the second straight meet, and 101 for the first time this season. NP beat Franklin Central (91.25), Scecina (90.625) and Muncie Central (80.775).

Grace Shanahan won the all-around and also took two events. She tallied 34.7 points in the all-around. Aly Henson was third in the all-around (33.75) and Taylor Brown fifth (30.925).

Shanahan won the vault and bars. Addie Halter won on the balance beam.

On vault, Shanahan scored 8.9, with Henson placing second (8.75), Halter fourth (8.45), TeTe Hart fifth (8.375) and Kinsey Dilley sixth (8.275).

On bars, Shanahan’s 8.6 placed her first. Henson was fourth (7.825) and Emma Poag fifth (7.55).

On beam, Halter was the winner with a score of 8.825. Syanahan was second (8.75), Henson third (8.725) and Anna Greiner fourth (8.7).

On floor exercise, Brown tied for third (8.5). Shanahan and Henson tied for fourth (8.45). Hart scored 8.4 and tied for fifth.

The Dragons are now 12-3 on the season. They next compete Feb. 20 against Shelbyville.
