The New Palestine girls swim team advanced 10 swimmers and all three relays to the finals of the New Palestine sectional from Thursday’s prelims.
The finals will be held Saturday morning at the NPHS natatorium.
In addition, the Dragons will have eight swims in the consolation finals to determine places 9-16.
The Dragons’ top seeds for Saturday will be in the 100 butterfly, where Jessica Rogers was second in Thursday’s prelims with a time of 1:02.22. The 200 free relay of Rogers, Anna Doolin, Hailee Holberton and Maria Virt was also second in the prelims with a time of 1:46.41.
NP will have two swimmers in the finals of the 100 butterfly. Maigan Williams was seventh (1:08.56) in the prelims .
NP will also have two swimmers in the finals of the 50 freestyle. Rogers finished fourth Thursday (25.84) and Doolin eighth (26.59). Cassy Moorman will swim in the consolation final after finishing 14th (29.17) .
In the 200 freestyle, Virt finished fifth to advance to the final (2:10.92). Bailey Young (10th, 2:17.64) and Williams (12th, 2:20.21) will swim in the consolation final. Virt is also moving onto the final of the 100 backstroke (seventh, 1:10.29), with Grace Mitchell (15th, 1:18.39) in the consolation final.
In the 100 freestyle, Doolin (sixth, 57.98) advanced to the final and Mooran (13th, 1:03.93) to the consolation final. In the 500 freestyle, Young (6th, 6:08.73) moves on to the final, with Emma Nobble (10th, 6:21.54) to the consolation final.
Holberton advances in the 200 IM after finishing seventh in the prelims (2:32.33). She also moves on in the 100 breaststroke after finishing fifth (1:15.27). Moving onto the consolation finals in the breaststroke are Jordan Owens (11th, 1:21.97) and Claire Whisler (16th, 1:26.76).
Also moving onto the final swims are the Dragons’ two other relays. The 200 medley relay of Virt, Holberton, Rogers and Doolin was fourth (2:00.32), while the 400 free relay of Moorman, Williams, Young and Kaylynn Crawmer was sixth (4:17.63).
Saturday’s finals begin at 9 a.m. with the diving competition, to be followed by the swimming finals.
