Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Gymnasts sweep Crusaders, Jackets


The New Palestine gymnastics team swept a three-way meet against Scecina and Morristown Tuesday at Morristown.

The Dragons tallied 97.175 points. Scecina had 88.725 and Morristown 62.075.

Competing shorthanded due to illness, the Dragons put forth a stellar performance. Sophomore Grace Shanahan won three events – the floor exercise (9.1), balance beam (8.325) and uneven bars (8.5). She also finished fifth on vault (8.25) and was second in the all-around with a score of 34.175.

Emma Poag was third in the all-around with a score of 31.675. She was third on bars (7.475) and beam (8.025), fourth on vault (8.375) and fifth on floor exercise (7.8).

Taylor Brown was fourth in the all-around (30.675). She was second on vault (8.55), fourth on bars (6.5) and floor (7.825) and fifth on beam (7.775).

TeTe Hart finished third on vault (8.45) and floor (8.275) and also placed sixth on beam (6.5).

NP is now 6-3 on the year. The Dragons next compete Thursday at home against Roncalli and Scecina.

Grace Shanahan won three events and was second in the all-around.
Taylor Brown was second on bars and third in the all-around Tuesday.
Emma Poag was third in the all-around Tuesday.
