Multiple Teams · Swim teams sweep Scecina


The New Palestine swimming teams swept Scecina in a Thursday dual meet.

The Dragon boys won 107-32, while the NP girls won 104-60.

New Palestine won 11 of the 12 events in the boys meet in a big victory.

Individual winners were Connor Phipps in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Chase Siler in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Marlon Cabrera in the 200 freestyle, Pathanin Runggeratigul in the 200 IM, Austin Lines in diving, Keith Harp in the 100 butterfly, and Benjamin Manning in the 100 backstroke.

In addition, the Dragons won the 200 medley relay (Eli Branson, Phipps, Cabrera, Damon Estes) and 200 free relay (Siler, Manning, Anthony Stultz, Estes).

Placing second were Stultz in the 200 freestyle, Jaxson England in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Wyndell Birch in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and the 400 free relay of Manning, Birch, Steven Thompson and Cody Koch.

Winners for the Dragon girls were Moriah Corey in the 50 freestyle, Karen Shriver in diving, Emma Nobbe in the 100 butterfly, Erica Long in the 500 freestyle and Adrienne Wilson in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons also won the 200 medley relay (Teagan Davis, Wilson, Maigan Williams, Corey) and 400 free relay (Williams, Grace Mitchell, Davis, Corey).

Placing second for the NP girls were Long in the 200 freestyle, Claire Whisler in the 200 IM, Kayleigh Wright in the 100 butterfly, Alaina Ankney in the 500 freestyle, Jordan Owens in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 free relay of Bailey Young, Cassandra Moorman, Corey and Sarina Donahue.

The Dragon boys are 3-4 and the girls 3-7 on the season in dual/tri-meets. Both teams are back in the pool Tuesday at home against Whiteland.

Chase Siler won three events in Thursday’s meet.

Moriah Corey was a triple-winner Thursday.
