The New Palestine swim teams had a strong day Saturday, sweeping visiting Eastern Hancock in a dual meet.
The Dragon girls won 124-52, while the NP boys won 109-57.
Maria Virt and Anna Doolin both won four events for the Dragon girls, while Hailee Holberton and Jessica Rogers won three events. Louis Holbrook won four events for the Dragon boys. Iago Brullon-Blanco, Marlon Cabrera, Nico Martin and Tyler Corey all won three events each.
NP’s girls started the meet with a sweep of the 200 medley relay. Virt, Holberton, Rogers and Doolin won, with Teagan Davis, Jordan Owens, Bailey Young and Alaina Ankney finishing second. The quartet of Virt, Rogers, Doolin and Holberton also won the 400 free relay.
For the Dragon girls, Virt also won the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, with Holberton giving NP a 1-2 finish in the IM. Doolin also won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Rogers won the 200 freestyle and Holberton the 100 breaststroke. Davis won the 100 breaststroke. NP had a top-three sweep of the 100 butterfly, with Maigan Williams, Kayleigh Wright and Kaylynn Crawmer sweeping the top three. Karen Shriver and Alyssa Rieman went 1-2 in diving. Also, the 200 free relay team of Cassandra Moorman, Williams, Crawmer and Rogers finished second.
The Dragon boys swept the three relays. Cabrera, Broullon-Blanco, Holbrook and Martin won the 200 medley relay. Broullon-Blanco, Jackson Schwartz, Cabrera and Martin took the 200 free relay, while Corey, Broullon-Blanco, Holbrook and Martin claimed the 400 free relay.
Holbrook also won the 100 butterfly in a 1-2 finish with Cabrera, as well as the 200 freestyle.
In addition to the relay win, Corey also won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Adam Buehrer led a 1-2 finish in the 100 breaststroke with Jaxson England. Cabrera won the 200 IM. Other second-place finishes went to Martin in the 500 freestyle and Broullon-Blanco in the 100 backstroke.
The Dragon boys are now 2-3 in dual/tri-meets, while the girls are 2-6. Both teams next compete at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Greenfield-Central.
