Multiple Teams · Swimmers strong at East Central Relays

The New Palestine swim teams both had strong days at Saturday’s East Central Relays.

The Dragon boys finished second in the event with 62 points, behind East Central (92). NP finished ahead of Connersville, Greensburg and Greenwood, which each had 46 points.

The Dragon girls were third with 56 points, behind champion East Central (86) and Greenwood (76). NP finished ahead of Greensburg (52) and Connersville (28).

Each NP team won two events.

The Dragon girls won the 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. Bailey Young, Moriah Corey, Anna Doolin and Cassy Moorman swam the 100 free relay in 56.51 seconds. Hailee Holberton, Maria Virt, Jessica Rogers and Doolin swam the 400 free relay in 4:01.18. NP also had third-place finishes in the 200 medley relay, the 150 butterfly relay and the 200 free relay.

The Dragon boys won the 150 butterfly relay and 400 free relay. The trio of Louis Holbrook, Iago Brullon-Blanco and Nico Martin swam the butterfly relay in 1:19.43. Broullon-Blanco, Holbrook, Martin and Jackson Schwartz won the 400 free relay in 3:34.33. NP had a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, while finishing third in the 100 free relay, the 200 free relay, the 1,000 free relay and the 375 crescendo relay.

The swimmers next compete Saturday, Dec. 16 in a 10 a.m. home dual meet against Eastern Hancock.

Louis Holbrook was a double-winner at East Central.
Nico Martin was part of two winning relays at East Central.
Iago Brullon-Blanco was part of two event wins at East Central.
Anna Doolin was part of both winning relays for the NP girls.
