Multiple Teams · CC teams finish season at semistate


The New Palestine cross country teams finished their seasons Saturday at the Shelbyvile semistate.

The Dragon girls placed 16th in a 21-team field, while the boys were 19th of 20 teams.

The NP girls tallied 446 places, 17 ahead of Center Grove and 33 back of Franklin. Brenna Shaw led the way with a 59th place finish (19:37.7). Kendall Mann was 62nd (19:41.2). Haley Rickey was 148th (21:51.4), Sophia Taylor 150th (21:57.3) and Grace Voelz 164th (22:59.5). Brebeuf was the champion with 70 places, with Zionsville, Carmel, Hamilton Southeastern, Fishers and Brownsburg also advancing to the State Finals.

The NP boys were 19th with 457 places, just three back of Pike and 13 back of Danville, the two teams just. Drew Austin led the Dragons with an 87th-place finish (16:53.1). Devon Whitaker was 119th (17:20.5). Josh Collins was 134th (17:28.4), Kyler Harrison 137th (17:32.7) and Alex Mohr 155th (17:54.7). Carmel was the semistate champion, with Cathedral, Fishers, North Central, Avon and Zionsville also advancing.
