The New Palestine volleyball team posted a three-set sweep Thursday to open sectional play, beating Richmond 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 at Greenfield-Central.
The Dragons improved to 25-6 on the season and advanced to the sectional semifinal match at 11 a.m. Saturday morning against Mt. Vernon. Pendleton Heights and Connersville will play the second semifinal, with the title match slated for 7 p.m. All matches will be at Greenfield-Central.
Mia Long had 19 kills, 13 digs and three blocks, while Allison Dennemann added 14 kills and 10 digs. Lydia Jones had 11 digs. Jordan Brittsan added four kills, while Jesi Hall had four kills and two blocks. Sydney Robertson quarterbacked the offense with 37 assists.
“Richmond played us a little tighter than I thought they would. It is all about survive and advance at this point,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. “We are looking forward to playing MV Saturday. We are ready to redeem ourselves.”
