Multiple Teams · Volleyball downs Noblesville in thriller


The New Palestine volleyball team won a five-set thriller Monday at Noblesville, beating the host Millers 25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Mia Long had a double-double with 13 kills and 24 digs. Allison Dennemann also had a double-double with 28 kills and 17 digs. Lydia Jones also had 20 digs. Sydney Robertson had 43 assists and eight digs. Audrey VanderWal had 12 digs. Jesi Hall had eight blocks – four solo – and Jordan Brittsan also had four blocks.

The Dragon JV and freshmen also won. The JV took a 25-23, 16-25, 15-14 match, while the freshmen won 24-25, 25-8, 15-9.

“Such a great night for Dragon volleyball,” Dragon coach Kelli Whitaker said. “Noblesville is an excellent team and has several D1 players. We battled all night. Such a good feeling to come out with a win especially going five sets. I’m on Cloud Nine for the moment. We have to refocus for two conference matches this week. I am very proud.”

The Dragons (23-5) are next in action Tuesday at Shelbyville, then return home Thursday to face Mt. Vernon.
