The New Palestine boys soccer team traveled to Center Grove on Wednesday and played the 12th-ranked Trojans to a 0-0 draw.
The Dragons’ defense had a very strong game and goalkeeper Adam Hunt made some big saves to preserve the shutout.
CG, which had been ranked in the Top 10 earlier in the season, was hosting its Senior Night.
“Center Grove is a very good team,” Dragons coach Justin Sass said. “They move the ball extremely well and is probably the best team we have seen all year long. I can see how they got ranked No. 9 in the state. At the same time, our boys rose to the occasion and were committed to putting in the hard work to get a very good result.
“We defended really well as a whole team. Senior center back, Jake Long, had a very good night and helped organize the team defensively. Adam Hunt came up with a couple very good saves that kept us in the game. I am very proud of the effort and heart that the boys showed in that game, and it will be something that we can build on as the post season gets closer.”
The Dragons (5-6-1) are back in action tonight at Fishers.
