Boys Junior Varsity Tennis, Boys Varsity Tennis · Tennis wins eighth county title

The Dragons varsity tennis team won its Hancock County Championship Saturday by the impressive margin of 21 points, tallying a perfect score of 35 points. Mt. Vernon finished second, beating Greenfield-Central by one point. Eastern Hancock finished fourth.
Matthew True, NP’s top singles player, won his 50th varsity match during the championships when he won the No. 1 singles title, an outstanding achievement.

NP swept the varsity singles and doubles championships:

No 1 singles     –  Matthew True

No 2 singles     –  Ben Blachly

No 3 singles     –  Carson Gavin

No 1 doubles   –   Colby Wagoner/Steven Gutzwiller

No 2 doubles   –   David Hockett/Dane Reid

The Dragons also won the JV title, beating Mt. Vernon by 1 point. Promising freshman Ethan Haeberle won the No. 1 singles title. Trevor Darley won at No. 2 singles. Drew Peiratt lost in the final of the No. 3 singles championship to Garrett Neimister of Greenfield-Central.
