Multiple Teams · Cross country wins Whiteland Invitational


The New Palestine cross country team took home hardware from Saturday’s Whiteland Invitational.

The Dragon boys won the race with 46 places to beat host Whiteland by nine. Greenwood was third (84) in the 11-team meet.

The Dragons had three runners in the top 10, with Kyler Harrison placing third, Drew Austin sixth and Josh Collins ninth. Devon Whitaker was 15th and Quinn Dobbins 17th.

The Dragon girls were close runners-up to Whiteland, as the Warriors had 40 places to NP’s 45. The Dragons were 18 places ahead of third-place Rushville. Again, three Dragons placed in the top 10, with Brenna Shaw placing second and Kendall Mann fifth. Grace Voelz was seventh. Haley Rickey placed 11th and Sophia Taylor 21st for NP.

The Dragons next compete Sept. 16 in the Riverview Health Invitational in Noblesville.
