The New Palestine girls soccer team posted a strong opening to the season, beating Perry Meridian 3-0 in Monday’s debut game.
Olivia Lambdin put the Dragons up 1-0 at halftime with a first-half tally. Olivia McKilligin added a second-half goal to extend the lead, while Victoria Crowder scored late to push the edge to 3-0.
In addition to the goal-scorers, coach Gina Fannin cited the strong midfield play of Hannah Taggart and the defensive play of Edin Hurst.
“A win to start out the season is always a good thing,” Fannin said. “We had a tough time putting our shots away tonight, but we got enough in to get the win. Passing was off the first half, but they cleaned it up for the second half and looked much better.”
The Dragons next play Wednesday at Triton Central.
The Dragon JV also won 11-0. Emmy Giddens scored a hat trick. Moriah Corey, Rachel Covey and Addie Halter all scored two goals. Aubrey Neese and Lucy Miller also scored.
