Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Gymnasts win 6-way meet


The New Palestine gymnastics team won the New Palestine six-way meet Saturday afternoon, posting a score of 101.45.

The Dragons outdueled Richmond (98.05) and New Castle (94.65), as well as Seton Catholic (64.275), Centerville (62.2) and Pendleton Heights (33.575).

Emily Heighway was first in the all-around with a score of 35.9. Faith Land was sixth with a score of 32.8.

Heighway was the winner on floor exercise, posting a score of 9.025. Bailey Watkins was fifth (8.425). Heighway was also first on balance beam (9.1), with Land fourth (8.475). On uneven bars, Heighway again was the individual winner at 8.525. Grace Shanahan was fourth (7.975) and Land tied for fifth (7.7). On vault, Heighway won to sweep the day. She tallied a score of 9.25. Watkins and Land were tied for sixth at 8.7.

The Dragons next compete Tuesday at home against Morristown and Scecina.
