Multiple Teams · Swimmers 2nd in home opener


The New Palestine girls swim team finished second in a three-way meet in its home opener Monday night.

The Dragons scored 107 points to place second to Pendleton Heights  (170), which won all 12 events. Rushville tallied 33 points to finish third.

The Dragons are now 2-2 on the year, having finished second in a pair of three-way meets.

The Dragons had a number of second-place finishes. In the 50 freestyle, Jessica Rogers was second and Anna Doolin third. Rogers was also second in the 100 butterfly. NP also had a 2-3 finish in diving, with Karen Shriver placing second and Kylie Dhonau third. The Dragons’ 200 free relay of Rogers, Doolin, Hailee Holberton and Cassy Moorman placed second.

Other third-place finishes for the Dragons were Grace Mitchell in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Holberton in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Doolin in the 100 freestyle, Teagan Davis in the 100 backstroke, the 200 medley relay team of Mitchell, Holberton, Emma Nobbe and Doolin, and the 400 medley relay team of Rogers, Moorman, Mitchell and Bethany Neeb.
