The New Palestine girls basketball team opened its season Thursday with a 61-36 road victory over Connersville in the Spartan Bowl.
The Dragons got off to a big start, shutting out their hosts and leading 15-0 at a quarter. NP extended the lead to 33-10 at the half and kept it in double-digits the remainder of the game. NP led 46-31 after three and pulled away in the fourth.
Senior Raegan McMurray led the Dragons with 17 points. Sophomores Leah Seib and Haley Harrison also scored in double figures, with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Junior Emma Grable had six points. Sophomores Katie Herron and Megan Jolly scored five each.
The Dragons’ JV also won.
NP returns to the court Tuesday to meet Greenwood in the Dragons’ home opener. JV tip is 6 p.m., with varsity to follow.
