The New Palestine girls basketball team had a balanced effort in a 60-29 victory over Delta Saturday afternoon at NPHS.

The Dragons improved to 5-3 overall, including a perfect 5-0 at home. Saturday marked the Dragons’ fourth time holding an opponent to less than 30 points. NP is 1-1 in HHC play.

Freshman Haley Harrison led the Dragons offensively with 12 points. Senior Haley Stratman added nine. Senior Katlyn Keele had eight points, while seniors Carly Hackler and Natalie Kehrt scored seven each. Junior Raegan McMurray scored five, while freshman Megan Jolly and sophomore Emma Grable scored four each.

The Dragons jumped out to a 20-6 lead after a quarter and pulled away from there, leading 34-13 at halftime and 45-20 after three.

The Dragon JV also won to improve to 8-0 on the season.

The Dragons are back on the court Tuesday at home against Shelbyville, with a 6 p.m. JV tipoff and 7:30 p.m. varsity tip.
