The New Palestine volleyball team won three of its four matches Saturday in the Warren Central Invitational, placing first in the silver pool.
The Dragons dropped their first match to 4A No. 2 Hamilton Southeastern 25-13, 25-18. But NP bounced back win its next three matches. The Dragons beat Lebanon 25-17, 25-16; then knocked off Warren Central 25-23, 25-16; and finished the day with a 25-13, 25-23 victory over Greenwood Christian. In the GCA match, Katlyn Keele had nine kills on 12 attempts with no errors, an incredible .750 hitting percentage. Taylor Lawson had a 12-point service run.
Kara Morris led the way with 56 assists in the four matches. Allison Dennemann had 36 kills and Mia Long 27 kills.
“We had a solid day,” coach Kelli Whitaker said. “We took a loss in our first game against 4A No. 2 Hamilton Southeastern. After the first match, we won every other set.”
The Dragons are now 18-3 on the year. They next play Monday at home against Mooresville, and also host Morristown on Tuesday and New Castle on Thursday next week.
