The New Palestine volleyball team swept through the Greenwood Invitational on Saturday, winning three matches to claim the title.
The Dragons beat Monrovia in 25-7, 25-16, and defeated host Greenwood 17-25, 25-15, 25-11 to get to the championship match. There, they bested Edinburgh 25-18, 25-17 to claim the championship.
“Allison Dennemann and Mia Long were stellar up at the net. Kara Morris had a great tournament with some amazing digs and excellent setting choices,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. “We struggled to find a rhythm in the first set against Greenwood, but the girls battled back to win in three sets. The championship game was a great matchup for us. Edinburgh is a great defensive team and I was happy with how the girls responded. They kept putting pressure on them with tough serving and great plays in the front row. It was a great afternoon for the Dragons!
The Dragons are now 13-1 on the season, and have now won two Saturday tournament championships in two tries.
The Dragons next play Tuesday at Delta, then return home Wednesday to meet Pike. They also play Thursday at Pendleton Heights and Saturday at the Warren Central Invitational.
