The New Palestine volleyball team dropped two close sets, but rallied to power past Lutheran in a five-set match Wednesday.

The Dragons won 22-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-13, 15-10 to clinch their third straight victory, and their second in a five-set match.

NP is now 10-1 on the season heading into Saturday’s Greenwood Invitational.

Sophomore Allison Dennemann had a double-double with 27 kills and 10 digs. She also had four block assists. Junior setter Kara Morris had 38 assists, eight aces, eight digs and six kills. Senior Taylor Lawson had 12 digs, senior Katlyn Keele nine kills and junior Audrey Edwards five block assists. Sophomore Mia Long added seven kills, two blocks, two aces and 10 digs.

“Tonight’s match, against a very tough Lutheran team, started out slow for us when we fell behind two sets to none,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. “However, the Dragons showed their heart by not giving up and took the last 3 sets to win the match. Every player contributed to the victory.”

The Dragon JV also won 25-23, 25-17.
