Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Softball beats Indian Creek

The Dragon softball team won its Senior Night home game, beating Indian Creek 4-2 on Tuesday.

New Palestine is now 21-3 with two games remaining in the regular season – Thursday at Lutheran and Friday at Delta – before beginning sectional play May 26 at Center Grove against Franklin.

The Dragons did all of their damage in the third – Issy Hoyt had a two-run hit. Ashley Prange and Madison Whitaker also had RBI in the inning. Adie Lorsung, Brittany Duncan, Hoyt and Taylor Lawson came across the plate in the frame.

The Dragons had eight hits. Hoyt led the way, going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a run and two RBI. Lorsung was 2-for-3. Mary Crumlin, Prange, Duncan and Abby O’Connor had the Dragons’ other hits.

Senior Kaylin McMurray pitched a complete game for the win, allowing three hits, no earned runs and striking out seven.

The Dragons also honored their three seniors – McMurray, Lorsung and Duncan – before the game.
