The New Palestine volleyball team had a strong rally Tuesday against Shelbyville, but fell just short in a five-set, 29-27, 25-20, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12 loss.

Freshman Allison Dennemann had a double-double with 36 kills and 23 digs. Kara Morris had 58 assists to go along with 12 digs. Senior libero Brianna Kilgore had 37 digs.

The Dragons honored their six seniors — Kilgore, Sarah Rominger, Rachael Wernimont, Lauren Catton, Adie Lorsung and Maddie Harper — before the match.

“The girls showed a lot of heart tonight,” coach Kelli Whitaker said. “The girls showed a lot of heart tonight. Many girls came up with huge numbers tonight. Dennemann’s 36 kills is unbelievable.”
