The New Palestine boys tennis team continued its streak of 5-0 victories, beating University and Silver Creek in a triple-dual match on Saturday.

The Dragons have now won seven straight matches, all by 5-0 scores, and are 9-1 on the season.

The Dragons opened the day with a 5-0 win over previously-unbeaten University. At singles, Brent Barrett won 6-4, 6-0; Jake Purcell won 6-1, 6-0; and Coltin Espich won 6-0, 7-6(2). At doubles, Ben Farley/David Thompson won 6-1, 6-1; and Josh McKinney/Evan Rejer won 6-3, 6-1.

NP then beat Silver Creek 5-0. At singles, Barrett won 6-2, 6-1; Purcell split two sets 1-6, 7-6(4), then won a 10-5 super-tiebreaker in place of a third set; and Espich won 6-1, 6-1. At doubles, Farley/Thompson had a 6-0, 6-3 win; while McKinney/Rejer won 6-1, 6-1.

“We hope we have some momentum going into the county tournament,” NP coach Chris Hardin said. “We’ve had several matches in a row where we’ve won 5-0. The guys are playing pretty well right now.”

The JV went 1-0-1 on the day, beating University 5-0 and tying Silver Creek 1-1.
